Audrey Hards
2nd Trombone
Audrey was born in the great city of York. She moved around quite a bit as a youngster and arrived at Greenock, in Scotland at the age of six. At the age of nine, Bandmaster Hoey taught her to play trombone at the Greenock Citadel Salvation Army. Audrey moved to Margate when she was fifteen and joined the late Margate Silver Band of which she was Secretary for a number of years. Audrey was a member of the Margate Silver Band for 33 happy years and while there met Fred, her husband of 44 years. They have two sons. Audrey joined the Snowdown Colliery Welfare Band almost fourteen years ago and says that the band are "a happy bunch". Her hobbies are: Working with children, where she was Cub Akela for 16 years and now Salvation Army Youth Club at Minster; and being a member of the Ladies Section of the Royal British Legion and fund raising for local charities.
