The Snowdown Colliery Welfare Brass Band competed in the London and Southern Counties Regional qualifiers for the Natioanl Brass Band Championships of Great Britian this weekend.
The band travelled the 105 mile trip by coach and arrived by midday and after a practice at The Thomas Allyne School made their way to the contest location, the Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre.
The 4th Section draw was made and Snowdown were drawn to play 15th of the 16 bands competing.
After a long and nervous 5 hour wait, the band finally took to the stage and played Saint-Saens Variations (arr. Phillip Sparke). The band played well, and were awarded a 9th place.
A great improvement over previous years. Full 4th Section results are published on the London and Southern Counties Region website Well done band!
