Snowdown Colliery Band Wins Again

The Snowdown Colliery Welfare Band competed in the Southern Counties Amateur Bands Associations Autumn Contest this past weekend at the Leas Cliffe Hall, Folkestone. Drawn first and played:

  • National Anthem (Brown, Lieut. Colonel Basil H.)
  • Labour and Love (Percy Fletcher, )

The band were judged and attained first place and won three of the remaining five trophies on offer…

  • 1st for the Test piece
  • Best Conductor (Keith Twyman)
  • Best Instrumentalist (Mike Sole – Principal Euphonium)
  • Best back row Cornets

…And to put the icing on the cake, Snowdown Colliery Welfare Band were awarded the trophy for the ‘SCABA Band of the Year 2011’.Full contest results can be found on the SCABA website
