Regional Qualifiers

The band had a good day on Sunday when playing off draw number 8 they were placed 6th out of 18 bands that participated , with one withdrawal.This now moves the band up the grading table. The whole band should be congratulated on it’s performance and special mention goes to our M.D. Keith Twyman for his patience and hard work. We now look forward to a busy summer programme and future contests.

3rd At Crawley

The Band returned to prize-winning ways today after securing a 2nd and two 3rd placings in the SCABA Contest at The Hawth. The placings were in the Hymn Tune, March and Test Piece. The band would like to say a BIG thank you to Keith Twyman for stepping in as MD, and for his hard work, and patience with the band over a short period of time.

Snowdown Compete Again…

…this time Snowdown Colliery Band competed in the London and Southern Counties Regional contest in Stevenage. Test Piece: English Folk Song Suite Full results have been published by the London and Southern Counties Region competition organisers. We played well, but only managed a galant 13th (out of the 20 bands in the fourth section)

Snowdown Colliery Band Wins Again

The Snowdown Colliery Welfare Band competed in the Southern Counties Amateur Bands Associations Autumn Contest this past weekend at the Leas Cliffe Hall, Folkestone. Drawn first and played: National Anthem (Brown, Lieut. Colonel Basil H.) Labour and Love (Percy Fletcher, ) The band were judged and attained first place and won three of the remaining five trophies on offer… 1st for the Test piece Best Conductor (Keith Twyman) Best Instrumentalist (Mike Sole – Principal Euphonium) Best back row Cornets …And to put the icing on the cake, Snowdown Colliery Welfare Band were awarded the trophy for the ‘SCABA Band of the Year 2011’.Full contest results can be found on the SCABA website

Snowdown Band Wins Convincingly

The Snowdown Colliery Welfare Band competed in the Southern Counties Amateur Bands Associations Spring Contest this past weekend down in Brighton. Drawn first and played: National Anthem (Brown, Lieut. Colonel Basil H.) March: Imperial Echoes (Arnold Safroni) Prelude, Song and Dance (John Golland) The band were placed first for five of the six trophies on offer… 1st for the March 1st for the Test piece Best Conductor (Keith Twyman) Best Soloist (Keith Pritchard – Principal Cornet) Best Cornet Section Full contest results can be found on the SCABA website
